Verses From Scripture
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will bless the LORD, who has
given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
I have set the LORD always before me: because [he is] at my
right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices: my flesh
also shall rest in hope.
For You wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither will You
suffer Your Holy One to see corruption.
You will show me the path of life: in Your presence [is] fulness of joy; at
Your right hand [there are] pleasures for evermore.
Psalm
16:7-11
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the
lip, they shake the head, [saying],
He trusted on the LORD [that] he would deliver him: let him
deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
But thou [art] he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make
me hope [when I was] upon my mother's breasts.
I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou [art] my God from my
mother's belly.
Be not far from me; for trouble [is] near; for [there is] none
to help.
Psalm
22:7-11
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
O love the LORD, all you his
saints: [for] the LORD preserves the faithful, and plentifully rewards
the proud doer.
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all you that
hope in the LORD.
Psalm 31:23,24
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Behold, the
eye of the LORD [is] upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his
mercy;
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waits for the LORD: he [is] our help and our shield.
For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy
name.
Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in you.
Psalm 33:18-22

For in thee, O
LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.
For I said, [Hear me], lest [otherwise] they should rejoice over me:
when my foot slips, they magnify [themselves] against me.
For I [am] ready to halt, and my sorrow [is] continually before me.
For I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
Psalm 38:15-18
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Why
are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my
countenance, and my God.
Psalm 43:5
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In You, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline Your
ear unto me,
and save me.
Be my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: You have
given commandment
to save me; for You are my rock and my fortress.
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of
the unrighteous
and cruel man.
For You are my hope, O Lord GOD: You are my trust from my youth.
By You have I been hold up from the womb: You took me out of my
mother's bowels:
my praise [shall be] continually of You.
I am as a wonder unto many; but You are my strong refuge.
Let my mouth be filled with Your praise and with Your honour all the
day.
Psalm 71:1-8
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and
more.
My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness [and] thy
salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers [thereof].
I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention
of thy righteousness, [even] of thine only.
Psalm 71:14-16
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou
hast caused me to hope.
Psalm
119:49
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thou [art] my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy
word.
Psalm 119:114
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and
let me not be ashamed of my hope.

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee,
O LORD.
Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice
of my supplications.
If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall
stand?
But [there is] forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be
feared.
I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I
hope.
My soul waits for the Lord more than they that watch for
the morning: [I say, more than] they that watch for the morning.
Psalm 130:1-6
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Happy
is he that has the God of Jacob for his help,
whose hope is in the LORD his God:
Psalm 146:5
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The LORD takes pleasure in them that fear
Him, in those
that hope in His mercy.
Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.
For He has strengthened the bars of thy gates; He has
blessed thy children within you.
He makes peace in your borders, and fills you with the
finest of the wheat.
He sends forth His commandment upon earth: His word runs very swiftly.
He gives snow like wool: He scatters the hoarfrost like
ashes.
He casts forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before
His cold?
He sends out His word, and melts them: He causes His
wind to blow, and the waters flow.
He shows His word unto Jacob, His statutes and His
judgments unto Israel.
He has not dealt so with any nation: and as for His judgments, they have not known them. Praise
You the LORD.
Psalm 147:11-20
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The fear of the LORD prolongs days: but the years of the
wicked shall be shortened.
The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness: but the
expectation of the wicked shall perish.
The way of the LORD [is] strength to the upright: but
destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not
inhabit the earth.
Proverbs 10:27-30

A sound heart [is] the life of the flesh: but envy the
rottenness of the bones.
He that oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker: but he that
honours him hath mercy on the poor.
The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous
hath hope in his death.
Wisdom rests in the heart of him that has understanding:
but [that which is] in the midst of fools is made known.
Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin [is] a reproach to
any people.
Proverbs 14:30-34
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blessed [is] the man that trusts in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD
is.
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and [that] spreads out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat
cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the
year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Jeremiah
17:7,8
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:
Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the
gall.
My soul hath [them] still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
[It is of] the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because
his compassions fail not.
[They are] new every morning: great [is] thy faithfulness.
The LORD [is] my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope
in him.
The LORD [is] good unto them that wait for him, to the soul
[that] seeks him.
[It is] good that [a man] should both hope and quietly wait for
the salvation of the LORD.
[It is] good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
He sits alone and keeps silence, because he hath borne
[it] upon him.
He puts his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
Lamentations 3:18-29

For David speaks concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always
before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad;
moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou
suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me
full of joy with thy countenance.
Act
2:25

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we
stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing
that tribulation works patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed
abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans 5:1-5
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil;
cleave to that which is good.
Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in
honour preferring one another;
Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant
in prayer;
Romans 12:9-12
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rom 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and
peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the
Holy Ghost.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And now abides faith, hope, charity
(love), these three; but the
greatest of these [is] charity (love).
1Cointhians 13:13
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness
by faith.

Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in
my prayers;
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may
give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of
him:
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may
know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory
of his inheritance in the saints,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward
who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead,
and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion,
and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that
which is to come:
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Which is his body, the fulness of him that fills all in all.
Ephesians 1:16-23
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye
walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing
one another in love;
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of
peace.
[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in
one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all,
and in you all.
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure
of the gift of Christ.
Ephesians 4:1-7
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence,
or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will
rejoice.
For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your
prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
According to my earnest expectation and [my] hope, that in
nothing I shall be ashamed, but [that] with all boldness, as always,
[so] now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether [it be] by
life, or by death.
For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain.

To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the
glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the
hope of glory:
Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in
all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Colossians 1:27,28
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the
breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
1Th 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation
by our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Th 5:10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live
together with him.
1 Thessalonians
5:8-10
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared
to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we
should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of
the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all
iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good
works.
Titus 2:11-14
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour
toward man appeared,
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according
to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing
of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs
according to the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:4-7
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs
of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed [it] by an oath:
That by two immutable things, in which [it was] impossible for
God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge
to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Which [hope] we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil;
Whither the forerunner is for us entered, [even] Jesus, made an
high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Hebrews 6:17-20
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forasmuch as you know that ye were not redeemed with
corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation
[received] by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without
blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you,
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead,
and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through
the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, [see that you] love one
another with a pure heart fervently:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.
1Peter 1:18-23
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And who [is] he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that
which is good?
But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy [are ye]:
and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always
to [give] an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope
that is in you with meekness and fear:
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you,
as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good
conversation in Christ.
For [it is] better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer
for well doing, than for evil doing.
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the
unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh,
but quickened by the Spirit:
